Maji Art Project is pleased to announce its participation in the art event Meet Your Art, organized by Avex Creator Agency Inc., where we showcased the bonsai works of bonsai artist Seiji Hirao. This event brings together innovative art projects from Japan and abroad, offering visitors the opportunity to experience a wide range of expressive possibilities.

For this exhibition, we presented bonsai works by Seiji Hirao, one of our flagship artists.
Although bonsai originally came from China and later developed uniquely in Japan as a traditional cultural practice, we approached it not merely as a “beautiful plant,” but as a symbol of cultural transformation and heritage. Each bonsai embodies the history and techniques cultivated over time and careful dedication. Through our display, we aimed to allow viewers to experience the very moment in which culture lives and breathes.

Through this exhibition, visitors were able to explore the multilayered meanings embedded in bonsai as a symbol of Japanese culture. By witnessing how tradition can merge with contemporary sensibilities to generate new value and perspectives, the exhibition served as a space where the concept of cultural innovation could be experienced in a tangible way.

Moving forward, Maji Art Project will continue to reinterpret localized high culture—born from cross-cultural exchange through mediums such as bonsai—into contemporary art. Through presentations in Japan and around the world, we will keep sharing the richness of culture widely. As an endeavor to connect the past and future of cultural expression, we look forward to continuing our pursuit of new forms of artistic expression together with our audience.
